It’s up to us to protect our kids.

More than a year ago, when we first learned that MAGA mega-donor Brian Heywood was back at it - preparing another slate of initiatives that target Washington's most vulnerable students - we knew we couldn't sit on the sidelines. Since then, QCN has been working alongside incredible partners locally and across the state to prepare for this moment.

Now, as the November election quickly approaches, it's time to ramp up our efforts and make sure everyone in Southwest Washington knows what’s at risk.

If they pass, Initiatives 001 and 638 will impact all of our students, but we know the greatest harm will fall on young people who are already navigating systems that weren't built for them - particularly our queer, trans, BIPOC, low-income, and disabled kiddos.

Our children are not bargaining chips in political games. They deserve schools and sports programs where they are included, supported, and safe. We owe it to them to make sure that the existing protections stay in place.
